    Hello ShopImmigration Team,

I’m French, married to an American, but in the middle of a divorce process. I’m in the United States on a visa that allows me to apply for a green card. I’m just worried that the divorce may affect the whole application and I might not get a green card after all. Can you please help me?

    Thank you!

    Hi Eloise!

Thank you for contacting us! I’m not an attorney, but what I know is that according to laws, it is ok to get a divorce and still obtain a green card. The procedure “removal of proceedings” occurs after 2 years and allows the person who got divorced to prove that the marriage was real at the time it happened and while it was done in good faith and it’s possible to prove that, then it’s ok to proceed with a 10 year green card.

Feel free to contact one of our attorneys, they’ll be more than happy to help you!

    Good luck!
